Understanding the Death of a Loved One Prayer

Let my cry come before you Lord, give me understanding according to your word – Psalm 119:169

As we celebrate the life of a loved one, we must stand firm on God’s word.  Although we may not understand it now, we believe that all things, even death work together for the good of those who love the Lord.  With each and every day, God promises his grace will be sufficient to carry us through.  He promises he will never leave us or forsake us and his word will not return to us void.

God, you are the same God yesterday, today and tomorrow.  We know that you see our tears, hear our prayers, and feel our hurt.  Let us not think upon the sudden end, but remember the good times we have shared during the time you have given our loved ones to us.

Although we had our own plan, God you had a special plan of your own. We must understand in this life there is only so much we can see, but rejoice knowing you can see all.  So God, as we continue this thing call life, let us not lean to our own understanding but continue to hope in you knowing you will see us through.
